Getting Started

Signing up

Ablative Hosting only requires a password and an SSH key to get started, we generate usernames automatically to prevent people leaking information about themselves.

DO NOT lose your SSH keys, they cannot be changed.

Logging into your account

Logging into your web based control panel is easy. Use your autogenerated UUID username and your password. If you've enabled Yubico OTP then enter that too.

Requesting a Free Shared Single Hop Account

(Free clearnet subdomain of ablative.website and a dedicated .onion)

Once logged in navigate to the Multitenant Onion Hosting page and select "Free Shared Single Hop".

Enter the name of the subdomain you want to use with Ablative.Website, in this case we would have entered "example" to get example.ablative.website.

Within 15 - 60 minutes a server from the fleet would have configured to host your domain and your .onion.

Connecting to your Free Webhosting account

If you haven't already logged into your web based account do that first (see above) and then visit your dashboard.

Scroll down to "Active Servers" and click the "Manage" button next to the instance you wish to connect to.

Here you'll see your .onion address (it can take up to an hour for new .onion's to become ready during peak demand) as well as confirmation of your chosen clearnet subdomain.

Scroll past these details to "Help with your server" where you will find instructions that can be copied and pasted into a Linux terminal. Example instructions are reproduced below;

To connect to your server issue the command (where AHnnn-xxxxxx can be found on your dashboard):

sftp AHnnn-xxxxxx@185.104.122.70

If you are not using Tails or whonix please ensure that you launch the Tor daemon and then connect via the SOCKS proxy;

sftp -o ProxyCommand='nc --proxy 127.0.0.1:9050 --proxy-type socks5 %h %p' AHnnn-xxxxxx@185.104.122.70

If you're using Windows you will need to use WinSCP;

• Ensure 'File Protocol' is set to SFTP
• Enter 185.104.122.70 as the host name
• Set your username to be the one found on your dashboard (in the format AHnnn-xxxxxx)
• Click advanced
  • Click Proxy (under Connection heading)
  • Set the Proxy Type to be SOCKS5
  • Set 'Proxy host name:' to be 127.0.0.1
  • Set the 'Port Number' to be 9150 if using the Tor Browser Bundle or 9050 if using the Tor daemon
• Click 'OK' to exit Advanced settings
• Ensure Tor is running!
• Click 'Login'

Uploading Files

Web files (.html / .php) should be uploaded to the public_html/ directory.
